What is IV Hydration Therapy, and How Does it Work?

IV hydration therapy is a treatment that involves the delivery of fluids and essential nutrients directly into your bloodstream through an IV catheter. This method bypasses the digestive system, ensuring your body receives the full benefits of fluids and nutrients. This leads to higher bioavailability and a more significant impact on your overall health.

Hydration is essential for overall health, and IV hydration therapy is a highly effective way to replenish fluids and nutrients in your body quickly. This treatment can help you recover from dehydration due to illness, exercise, or excessive alcohol consumption. It can also boost your energy levels and help you feel more alert and focused.

What Exactly Happens during IV Vitamin therapy?

During an IV (intravenous) vitamin therapy session, a carefully formulated blend of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients is directly infused into your bloodstream. The procedure flows in the following steps:

Step 1 - Consultation:

Before the therapy begins, a medical professional or a certified nurse will consult with you to assess your health, discuss your goals, and determine the appropriate IV vitamin therapy for your specific needs.

This may involve reviewing your medical history, discussing any pre-existing conditions, and addressing any concerns or questions you may have.

Step 2 - Preparation:

Once the appropriate IV therapy has been selected, the medical professional will prepare the nutrient solution. This may involve mixing the vitamins, minerals, and other necessary nutrients in a sterile saline solution, which acts as the carrier fluid for the infusion.

Step 3 - Insertion of the IV Catheter:

Our certified nurse will locate a suitable vein, usually on the arm or hand, and sterilize the area with an alcohol swab. A small needle, called a cannula, inserts the IV catheter into the vein.

The needle is then removed by leaving a flexible plastic catheter in place. This process is typically quick and causes minimal discomfort.

Step 4 - Monitoring

Throughout the IV vitamin therapy session, the medical professional will monitor you to ensure that the infusion is proceeding smoothly and to address any concerns or discomfort that may arise.

Step 5 - Therapy Done!

The IV vitamin therapy session duration varies depending on the specific treatment, but it typically lasts between 30 minutes to an hour. Once the infusion is complete, the medical professional will remove the IV catheter and place a small bandage over the insertion site.

You can resume your normal activities, as most people experience minimal to no side effects after the therapy.

How often can someone have IV therapy?

Different therapies vary, but in general not more than one IV per "therapy" per week. I would not likely want to give more than 2 in a week of varying therapies either but there are always some exceptions. For example Hydration up to 3 times a week if someone is working outside in 115 degree heat might be warranted. Typically though 1-2 per week and probably not back to back days either. More 2-3 days apart or so

6

Is there an age limit? If not, is there a legal document that parents can sign for approval of minors?

Typically, it is 15+ with consent from a parent for minors. They will need a telemedicine call prior for a consult, need to have a parent present while receiving the drip. Otherwise, your adult population of 18 and up may receive a service without a telehealth consult unless their medical history or requests require one.

Are the infusions, vitamins, minerals we give synthetic?

Please know that this is in no way all-inclusive and there are many other steps in the process of isolating a vitamin or mineral in mass and then taking it from that powder form to a patient's body. Simply, not everything is derived from living matter aka organic. Vitamins are typically (b vitamins). But Minerals are not (magnesium).  Minerals can be isolated by chemical reaction. Here's some background:

  1.  The pharmacies that compound your products are required to undergo state board inspection and most have undergone at least one FDA inspection. This ensures cGMP (current good manufacturing practice) are being followed.

  2. As for sourcing the ingredients come from suppliers such as pcca, medisca, letco, etc which are also required to undergo FDA inspection.
         a) These suppliers source from multiple locations depending on the product world wide.
         b) They have a certificate of analysis for each powder and and MSDS sheet (if necessary).
              i) Meaning each powder has under gone testing for purity etc.
ii) Some powders have activity that has to be taken into account.
iii) Other powders are so potent that when a pharmacy receives them they must be aliquoted and then sent for a new testing in order to measure amounts that are safe for human consumption.

How often should I get a massage?

The frequency of massage therapy in Northern Virginia therapy sessions depends on your needs, preferences, and lifestyle. For those seeking relief from chronic pain, stress, or muscle tension, weekly or bi-weekly sessions may be beneficial. Monthly sessions are typically sufficient for general relaxation and maintenance of overall wellness.

9

What should I wear during a massage?

Your comfort is of the utmost importance during a massage session. It is generally recommended to undress to your comfort level, as your therapist will use draping techniques to ensure your privacy and modesty.

For certain massage types, such as Thai or sports massage, you may be asked to wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement.

10

Are there any medical conditions that may prevent me from receiving a massage?

While massage therapy is generally safe and beneficial for most individuals, certain medical conditions may contraindicate massage therapy. These include but are not limited to, acute infections, fever, deep vein thrombosis, and certain skin conditions.

Consult your healthcare provider before receiving massage therapy for any concerns about your health or medical history.
